• Foxconn able to produce carbon nanotube touch panel sizes up to 10-inch

  Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) has successfully acquired the technology for carbon nanotube (CNT) touch panel production through cooperation between its subsidiary in Tianjin, China and an industrial R&D team of Tsinghua University in China. Mass producible panel sizes have also been expanded from only around 3.2-inch originally to a range between 1.52- to 10-inch, according to some market watchers. >

• Buynow expects EPS of at least NT$4.50 for 2013

  Buynow, a channel retail subsidiary of notebook maker Clevo in China, expects its profits to grow significantly in 2013. The company already enjoyed a giant leap in its first-quarter profits and with the appreciation of the Chinese Yuan, the company's EPS in the second quarter may grow up to NT$0.80 (US$0.03) with annual performance reaching at least NT$4.50. >

• Elan shipping touchscreen controller ICs for new Nexus 7

  Elan Microelectronics reportedly has begun shipping touchscreen controller ICs for Google's new Nexus 7 tablets, which will help ramp up the revenues of the Taiwan-based IC design house in May and June, according to industry sources. >

  E Ink has announced it will release the E Ink Aurora, an electronic paper display (EPD) able to withstand the temperatures found in freezers.   Sharp will begin production of three types of IGZO LCD panels that boast pixel densities among the highest in the industry, according to the company. These LCD panels are intended for use in notebooks and will come in 11.6-, 14-, and 15.6-inch sizes. Production is scheduled to begin in June 2013 at Sharp's Kameyama Plant No. 2. This new production allows Sharp to expand its lineup of IGZO LCD panels for notebooks, with the company having already started production of 13.3-inch IGZO panels, said Sharp. >
